Why did you start this blog?

To keep a blog has been in the back of my mind for a long time. I felt a need to comment on my daily experiences (i.e. journal articles, political news, music, op-ed pieces, odd events, movies, etc).

Alright, but what is the specific purpose of the blog?

It seems from your tone that you are not satisfied with a “things that interest me” type of response. OK, most of the content is related to politics. The connection might not always be crystal clear, but it is often there. Another theme is popular culture. As can be seen from the tag cloud, the balance is in favor of politics.

Isn’t it intimidating that anyone with an internet connection can read what you write?

No, not so much. Part of the purpose is to reach out. I think that people in academia should do it more often. However, as with many people, I am a little worried about letting my thoughts be known to everyone, but I think the benefits outweigh the potential problems.

Do you like comments?

Yes, I do! Although this blog is largely a form of monologue, I like when people have something to say in response. You don’t need to worry so much about grammar and spelling when writing comments.

You seem upset, why?

No, I am not that upset. I might seem annoyed sometimes, but that is usually very temporary. In general, I just want things to be better. I try to direct my criticism to specific targets and not let my feelings spread non-specifically. In other words, I do not kick the dog after I reading Planet Gore.

Why is it in English?

True, it could have been in Swedish. However, I want others than Swedes to be able to read it. Moreover, I live in the U.S. and my communication is in English so it is natural for me to stick with the same language.

How often do you post?

It depends on my workload and if there is something worthwhile to write about. There will rarely be more posts than once a day; the minimal goal is once a week. My regular work takes up a lot of time so there is only a small portion that can be devoted to blogging.

What Wordpress plugins do you use?

WP AJAX Edit Comments, wp-forecast, wp-cache, WordPress.com Stats, Viper’s Video Quicktags, Simple Tags, ShareThis, Google XML Sitemaps, All in One SEO Pack and Akismet.

How do I keep updated with what you write?

Thanks for your interest! Since the stream of posts is irregular, the easiest way to follow this blog is probably via a feed reader such as Google Reader (web-based), Mozilla Thunderbird (e-mail program with built-in feed reader) or NewsGator (several options). Click on “Entries (RSS)”, located under Meta, to grab the feed.
